Products at
the aframe
As a designer, I put an immense amount of thought into the brands and products work with at the A. High quality, low toxin, workhorse pieces that hold up even at a rental. Below you’ll find the pieces I use again and again so you can have them in your home too.
Ungatekeeping my sources
Bath Products
I stock Flamingo Estate Rosemary Clary Sage scent in Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, Lotion, and Hand wash. They use essential oils that give it a bright, vegetal aroma. Plus, the packaging is refillable, which was a must for me.
Kitchen Utensils
Every single product from Material Kitchen is a workhorse. From their Trio of Knives to their plastic free cutting boards. They’re designed in-house, marrying form and function to make the ritual of cooking a pleasurable experience.
Dried Floral Installations
During the build process, I clocked a brand called Saint Maide creating stunning installations with dried florals that felt more like a sculpture than a bouquet. She had largely done retail/restaurant so I asked if she’d ever consider making something custom for a countryside retreat. I sent photos of the vintage vessels I sourced, gave her total creative freedom and the results are beyond my wildest dreams. About a year later, she came out and shot pieces of her book, Lasting Impressions, which made it all full circle.
Towels, Linens & Robes
I use the Sateen sheet sets on all beds at the aframe and i’m obsessed with how luxurious they feel. This is probably the #1 sourcing question guests have – how do I recreate this set up at home? Both the duvets and pillows are down alternative Medium density. It’s worth the investment!
Vintage Furniture
I use vintage designer furniture in every room of the aframe and it’s easily the element that gives a new build like the A that special something. Part of the fun of vintage is they’re literally 1-of-1s, so they’re not available to purchase. But my favorite vintage dealers right now are Ebb + Ivy, Pop up Home, Hallpass, and Galerie Poloma.
Coffee Set up
I knew from the beginning I wanted a really good coffee set up for the A. Something coffee snobs and busy families could equally enjoy. The pace of life is slower in Sewanee, so it felt right to offer a chemex pour over set up for guests to relish in the ritual of making coffee while enjoying gorgeous views. The Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Kettle and Opus Conical Burr Grinder are a match made in heaven for this. I usually stock Elegy beans but occasionally I’ll bring in Crema.
Art Books
When I was setting up the Aframe, I reached out to a friend who owns my favorite bookstore in E. Nashville, The Green Ray, for some recommendations. I asked her what guests might want to read when they’re logging off and soaking up inspiration and her recs did not disappoint.
Lighting
This is such a huge element of spaces that feel cozy and inviting. You’ll notice layers of light throughout the aframe, A mix of wall sconces, pendants, and table lamps. (Team NO BIG LIGHT). It’d be impossible to link every single brand used, but look for natural materials – rattan, marble, wood, real brass – that will age beautifully and patina over time.
Cookware + Kitchen Gear
One of my biggest pet peeves when staying in a rental is trying to cook a meal only to realize no one has ever cooked there before and it’s missing key kitchen items. I use Great Jones cookwear (specifically their Precious Metals set + The Dutchess Dutch oven) Graza Olive Oil, as well as vintage serving bowls, and everything you’d need to cook a proper feast. (My family spends Thanksgiving there every year!)
